Jobs in Home Health Predicted to Grow, says Labor Department

Provide great hospice care to your patientsAs boomers age, it’s likely that the  U.S. health care system will strain to keep up.  Agencies that serve aging populations, such as home health and private duty providers, are finding efficiencies and deploying technology like clinical and billing software for home health to support a graying America.  And, according to predictions by the U.S. Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, this ballooning population will impact the types of jobs available in the future.  In fact, jobs in home health and personal care may grow by as much as 70 percent by the year 2020. As we all well know, care in the home is more cost-effective than hospital-based care, and aides can provide much of the daily living assistance required for people who want to remain in their homes. Another career with strong growth predictions is physical therapy assistant, for many of the same reasons.

Is your organization hiring more employees, either nurses or aides? Do you anticipate a shortage of qualified employees in the near future?
