Regulatory Changes Published For Hospice Billing Software

Just a quick update deployed this weekend to address new regulations for hospice and home health. The following changes are now in production:

1. Medicare Hospice Rates, effective 10/1/2012 have been added to the CareAnyware web-based hospice software billing system. Please refer to Medicare Learning Network Matters Article MM7857 (PDF) for more details.

2. The following regulatory changes have been deployed to the billing system and will show on claims generated on or after 9/30/2012:

Regulation MNL Matters Article Type of Agency Condition Needed
Show the ‘Other Physician’ if the attending physician is not the same as the physician certifying the terminal illness; this will show in loop 2310F in the 5010 file MM7755/R2448CP Hospice Medical director is different from attending physician
New Occurrence code, 55 for patient deaths; day of death to show as occurrence date; claims with status code values of 20, 40, 41 or 42 MM7792 Hospice/Home Health Discharge status of ‘died’ or day of death has been entered (hospice patients)
